Upgrades and Enhancements
 
Will there be upgrades and enhancements to the auction system?
 

Yes. We are committed to continually enhancing our auction service. By constantly improving the service -- by making the auction experience better both for the bidders in your community and for the people at your newspaper who run the auction events -- we remain competitive.

Can I make suggestions for enhancements?
  Yes. The best ideas for enhancements come from our clients, and we are always happy to listen to your suggestions.
 
Do you release new versions of the auction system?
 

Traditionally software packages have gone through a series of versions, with each new version containing a long list of enhancements and fixes. Versions were released infrequently, with the price of upgrading to a new version usually being high. We take a different approach:

  • As soon as we have written and tested a new auction system feature, you have the option of including that feature in your auction website(s). You don't have to wait for the "next version" to be released.
     
  • For six months from the date you purchase your auction system license, enhancements are made available to you at no charge. You will receive email notification that an enhancement is available. Going to an administrative webpage will display details about the enhancement, with a checkbox for you to use to add that feature to your auction.
     
  • Enhancements that are released more than six months after the date you purchase your auction system license are priced individually. The price of an enhancement is be set according to the significance of the feature. Adding the ability to accept credit cards on-line to your auction website(s), for example, would be priced higher than adding the ability to sort an administrative report by various columns.
     
  • If you do choose to purchase an enhancement, the purchase price will be a one-time price.
     
  • Each individual license owner has the option to purchase or not purchase an enhancement.
     
  • We will always support your auction service websites, regardless of which enhancements you might choose to purchase or to not purchase.
What version of the system will I receive?
  You will receive the most current version of the auction system -- the version containing all of the currently available functions and features.
 
What if I want something changed that's very specific to my newspaper alone?
 

Most enhancements that you might think of will be useful to other newspapers as well as to yours. But, however, if you should request an enhancement to the service that is very specific to your own needs, and would not be generally applicable to our other auction system clients, then we will treat that as a separate development project -- we will submit a fixed price proposal for doing the development work, and, should you accept the proposal, we will implement it in a way that includes the enhancement in your auction website(s) but not in the auction websites of our other clients.
 

We've talked to other users of your auction system and we want to use modifications they've had you make. How is that arranged?
 

Your auction websites will include all of the currently available features and functions, including any that we have added at the request of clients.
